Eve's Eggy Bread

"Our physical output is just one piece of the puzzle in terms of athletic development. How we fuel is equally, perhaps even more important. I’m a firm believer that our kids need to pay attention to not only fuelling for exercise but for their lives too. There is so much dietary advice out there, much of it conflicting, that it can be difficult for busy parents to make sense of it all.

I’ve tried to cut through the clamour and each week, I will provide clear, proven guidelines and simple, delicious recipes, to feed your budding athletes well, inexpensively and without fuss."

Tony Weeks - Head Coach

Here's an example:

Eggy bread protein roll with bacon

An old childhood favourite with a modern & locally sourced twist  (by locally – I mean Lidl’s)

Ingredients:

  • Half a Lidl’s Protein roll (particularly good for protein and reduced refined sugars)
  • One beaten egg
  • 1/2 tsp unsalted butter
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 rasher of bacon

Directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan
  2. Slice the roll and dunk the seedy top portion in the beaten egg
  3. Fry both sides in the butter & cook your bacon at the same time
  4. Will keep them feeling full till lunchtime and avoid the morning sugar rush & inevitable crash that follows!

Note: 30g of Carbs less than 2 x weetabix and semi-skimmed milk.
